The annual “closing party for the women golf and bridge play-i ers of The Tryon Country Club, which was held last Tuesday was one of the nicest events held this year for it provided the best in food, decoration, prizes, compan ship and fun! The very clever decorations ar ranged by Polly Bennett and Libby Mahler sounded the keynote of fun for the day’s entertainment and made the annual awarding of golf and bridge prizes a gala event for the thirty-seven women who attended. Mrs. Carroll Bennett, the re tiring . President of the Women’s Golf Association presided and plan ned the entire party, including a style show entitled “A Week-end on the Riviera” with clever com mentary; extra prizes for special “merits” and the presentation of a lovely pin to Mrs. Ted Fox for her wonderful co-operation and help to the women throughout the year. The golf awards were: to Mrs. Peter Mahler-for the 1952 women’s Club Championship, the silver trophv cup which Libby may now keep for a permanent possession as this was the third time Libby has won the Club Championship since the cup was presented to the women golfers. Mrs. Henry Bartol re ceived the prize for Runner-up. thus making them the winners of the A class championship. Mrs. Charles Willard won class B Championship and Mrs. Lawrence Bradley won Runner-up for class B. Mrs. fV>th Vining won the Con solation Flight with Mrs. Charles Stratford.winning the Runner-up.
